Description

Brain-machine interfaces is a neuroengineering field that has had a significant growth over the last decade, due to the fact that such technique could be applied in a wide variety of fields, ranging from entertainment (videogames), to biomedical devices such as prosthetics and orthotics.

HSI Medical Solutions focuses on the development of non-invasive brain-prosthesis interfaces. We are encouraged to develop prostheses that are controlled through the non-invasive register of each patient’s brain activity.

How does it work?

The voltage fluctuations resulting from the electrical potential generated by millions of neurons can be measured along the scalp using a recording technique known as electroencephalography (EEG). The EEG signal is processed using time, frequency, or multiresolution analysis and its features are classified by a series of intelligent inference systems in order to determine the subjects' will to move their hands, to close their eyes, to sleep, etc.

All great inventions started with an idea!

We have been working hard in recent years on brain-machine interfaces obtaining so far several international conference publications by the world's largest professional association for the advancement of technology (The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers or IEEE) and one invitation to publish a book chapter by one of the most important publishing companies worldwide (Springer-Verlag).

We are close to develop a commercial brain-prosthesis interface for real life implementation.
